Member Code of Conduct
Our Commitment
As members of the Renewable Energy Farmers of America, we commit to upholding the values that define our organization: advocacy, authenticity, empowerment, collaboration, and integrity. This code reflects what good conduct looks like in our community of farmers, ranchers, and partners.
Advocacy in Action
We champion each other’s rights and interests. We speak up for fellow landowners and work together to ensure our voices are heard in policy discussions. When we advocate publicly, we represent our shared commitment to property rights and responsible land stewardship.
Authentic Relationships
We are farmers and ranchers serving farmers and ranchers. We share our real experiences—both successes and challenges—honestly. We don’t oversell opportunities or hide problems. Our advice comes from genuine experience, not sales pitches.
Empowering Each Other
We share knowledge freely to help fellow members make informed decisions. We provide practical guidance without pushing our own agendas. We respect that each landowner’s situation is unique and support their right to choose what’s best for their operation.
Collaborative Spirit
We build each other up rather than compete destructively. We share information responsibly, respecting confidential details about contracts, negotiations, or personal circumstances. We welcome diverse perspectives and work through disagreements respectfully.
Acting with Integrity
We are honest in all our dealings within REFA and when representing the organization publicly. We avoid conflicts of interest that could compromise our judgment or REFA’s mission. Professional members and developers maintain transparent relationships and don’t exploit their REFA connections for unfair advantage.
Community Representation
When we speak publicly about renewable energy or represent REFA in our communities, we do so thoughtfully and accurately. We help build understanding rather than create division. We acknowledge that our words and actions reflect on the entire organization.
Legal Compliance
We comply with all applicable laws, including antitrust regulations that govern trade associations. We don’t use REFA meetings or communications to engage in price fixing, market allocation, or other anti-competitive practices. Members and stakeholders that fail to act in accordance with this Code of Conduct can be expelled from the Association.
